Emmanuel House is a Spiritual Formation Center that is committed to developing reflective, missional leaders through classes, retreats and personal Spiritual Direction. Our goal is to partner with local churches and ministries to cultivate lay-leaders who are strong in the Biblical texts, skilled in working with others and sensitive to the culture in which they minister. We want to help leaders engage in the process of their own spiritual formation as they point others to Christ.
Our hope is to provide leadership training and spiritual direction to those who don't have the time or resources to attend a traditional seminary. We also want to be a resource for local churches and other ministries that don't have the resources or manpower to do this kind of training themselves.
Emmanuel House is operated by Lothlorien Retreat and Study Center, a 501c3 organization operating as a public charity. We work in Manhattan, KS and in the Kansas City area and at times do extension work in Lincoln, NE. We also offer classes at a distance via live Skype sessions of classes taught at our current sites. If you are interested in arranging a class or seminar in another area, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will see if we can arrange something.
We invite you to browse the site and learn more about our ministry philosophy and values.
Right now, we are featuring a retreat, called The Expedition. The Expedition is a small group weekend retreat that is designed as a follow-up to the material introduced in our Geography of the Soul seminars. However, one does not have to attend Geography of the soul to be a part of this retreat. In The Expedition we offer a taste of the reflective life--a life in which we get to know God and others, and orient our lives more fully to the Gospel. It is definitely life-changing stuff, but the environment is safe and the focus is upon learning how to understand our own stories as bringing glory to God, as they are a part of His greater Story as unfolded in the Word of God.
